Lieksa Brass Week postponed to 2021

Due to the covid-19 pandemic Lieksa Brass Week will be postponed by one year. Next year the festival will be expanded by four extra days and the total duration will be two weeks. The new dates are July 19-31, 2021.

The concert series, master classes, basic tuition, ensemble course and the interanational french horn competition, planned for 2020, will take place in 2021. The theme of the festival is Light. - As a new content we will have "The Intros of the Brass Week", lasting four days before the actual festival program. At the moment we gather ideas for the The Intros that can take place in the street or in the park, in the villages, at nursing homes or cafes and pubs, describes festival director Anu Laakkonen.

The artistic director of Lieksa Brass Week is international trumpet soloist Jouko Harjanne. Lieksa Brass Week, started in 1980, focuses on brass instruments and mainly classical music, and it is the largest brass music festival in Nordic countries.

The tickets already bought will be valid next year with new dates. Alternatively reimbursement is possible until the end of August, 2020.
