RULES
1. Lieksa Brass Week is holding an International Trumpet Competition (Raimo Sarmas in memoriam) on July 18-25, 2012. The competition is open to contestants of all nationalities born in or after 1977.
2. The Lieksa International Trumpet Competition will consist of the following rounds:
- registration and rehearsals with the pianists (July 18)
- 1st round (July 19-20)
- 2nd round (July 23)
- final round (July 25)
3. The application form should be filled in and sent online at www.lieksabrass.com to reach the Competition Committee by May 1, 2012 at the latest.
4. The participation fee is 80 EUR. The fee must be paid to Lieksa Brass Week's account:

Name and address of the bank: Pielisen Osuuspankki, Pielisentie 9, FIN-81700 LIEKSA, Finland. Any additional costs incurred in payment will be paid by the participant.
In addition to the application form completed and sent online, the applicant must send the competition committee the following, preferably as email attachments:
a. an official identity certificate or copy of passport (to verify the participant’s age)
b. a photo (b/w and preferably in digital format) for the competition brochure
c. a receipt of the participation fee
d. a short curriculum vitae for the competition brochure (5-7 lines in English)
An application to take part in the competition may be refused should the required attachments or the participation fee fail to reach the Competition Committee by May 1, 2012.
5. An accompanist is available for the competition. Competitors may bring their own accompanist at their own expense. Before each round, competitors will be allowed sufficient time with the pianist to ensure the smooth performance of the competition repertoire. Competitors in the finals will have a rehearsal with the accompanying orchestra.
6. A competition briefing session will be held in Lieksa on Wednesday July 18, 2012, at 10 am. At this briefing the order of performance will be determined by lot. This will remain the same throughout the competition. All participants must be present in person during the drawing of lots.
7. Repertoire: The editions mentioned are only a guideline. Other editions are permitted on condition that the competitor informs the Competition Committee beforehand and provides the Lieksa Brass Week office with the piano part in question for the accompanist.
During the 1st and 2nd rounds the works may be performed in any order.

The results of the competition will be announced and the prizes will be awarded immediately after the final round. The prizes may, by decision of the Jury, be awarded in a way that differs from the above. Should a prize be divided between two or more competitors, the sum will be divided accordingly, unless otherwise decided by the Jury. The Jury's decision is final and cannot be contested.
11. The competition is public and the organisers have the right to permit the recording, broadcasting, televising or videotaping of the performances. Competitors will not receive any separate fee for this.
12. The original rules of the competition are in Finnish. Any disputes will be resolved according to the Finnish rules.
