Esko Heikkinen

Esko Heikkinen (born 1953) is a Finnish trumpeter, conductor, composer and arranger, known especially for his long career in Finnish jazz and big band music. At the Lieksa Brass Week, Esko will play Bb cornet in the septet Suomi-seitsikko.

Esko Heikkinen has worked, among other things, as lead trumpeter and conductor of the UMO Jazz Orchestra and as conductor of the Helsinki Police Symphonic Band. Heikkinen is also respected as an educator and arranger, and has been awarded several distinctions, such as the Yrjö Award from the Finnish Jazz Association and the title of Finnish Jazz Legend in recognition of his significant life's work for the benefit of Finnish jazz.
