Olav Severeide
Olav Severeide was born in Trondheim, Norway.
Olav holds a master's degree from the Malmö Academy of Music (1997-2002). He then received his Candidatus musicaein solo instrument / chamber music at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo (2002-2004). Olav has also studied at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et Danse in Paris and at Universität der Künste in Berlin.
Olav Severeide has been the sub-principal trombonist in the Finnish National Opera Orchestra since 2012. From 2005-2012 he worked in Tampere Filharmonia. In addition to his permanent job, Olav has been substituting in several of the professional orchestras in Finland, Norway and Sweden.
He has also been active as a soloist and chamber musician with several first performances and is a member of the Helsinki Brass Quintet.
Olav Severeide has been a part-time trombone teacher at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki since 2020.
